Going Back to School…

August 25th, 2008

Hello there,

It’s that time of year again. Time to start school. Now there are usually a few mixed feelings about going back to school in the fall. I’ve experienced them many times myself.

You see, you’re excited to go start meeting cool new people and having some new experiences, but you don’t want to lose the freedom that summer usually gives. Believe me, I understand that…

Since the time has come, you might as well accept what’s going on and see it in the most positive light. That has always helped me feel better when I find myself not 100% excited about something.

In addition to that, I’d like to give you something really cool…

This tip I’m going to give you is one of the most important tips that you can do as a college student and it’s very important to do it in the beginning of your semester or even during your first semester if you’re just starting. This tip I didn’t get to use because I was almost done getting my AA degree before I stumbled upon this gem.

However, when I go back to school to get my Bachelor’s Degree, I’ll have the opportunity to use this. YES!

So here it is…

Create a Graduation Goal!

If you’re serious about graduating from college, then you should really take 3 minutes and create a graduation goal for yourself. Read these simple instructions and then go from there…

1. Grab a piece of paper and a pen.

2. Write down your graduation goal. Like this: “It is (date you’d like to graduate by) and I have my (type of degree you’re going for) Degree in (type of degree you’re getting).

Here’s an example: “It is June 21, 2012 and I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.”

3. Put this piece of paper in your binder or up on your wall. Just put it in a place where you will see it often. It will help you stay focused on becoming a college graduate and it only takes like 30 seconds to read over a few times each day and it practically guarantees your success in college!

Pretty simple way to guarantee your success in college, right?

Now you may want to make your goal page look decent enough to look at everyday. You can type it out and print it or you can even get creative, come up with a design, and then frame it!

If you’re looking for a real cool college goal sheet, you should really check out our College Success Package. It comes with a FREE College Goal Degree for you to use!

Check it out at http://www.TheCollegeGuide.net/welcome.html

So remember to have fun as your walking onto campus and meet some cool, new people. I’m sure they are as angry and upset to be there as you might be!

Peace,

Jared James

Can A Dog Graduate From College?

July 31st, 2008
“If you were a dog, wouldn’t you want to graduate from college?” I asked Jaycob.
That’s the question that came up when we were talking in Jaycob’s room with his dog.
“Yeah man, if I was a dog, I’d want to graduate from college” Jaycob said.
And like many outrageous ideas, this idea got legs…and fast!
After a short period of time, we found a way to make college so easy that even a dog can graduate.
You’ll see the proof later on. But first, let me tell you about how it happened…
“Jared James and Jaycob Rodden are really creative individuals. They have researched the entire college process. They have sewn it up and gone through the stitching to find every helpful hint to make college as simple as possible for anyone attending.”
Now while we were talking, we knew that because a dog doesn’t have any idea of what to expect while in college, we made sure that we explained everything clearly and simply.
We knew that starting at a community college would be the smart move, so Kobe (Jaycob’s dog) wouldn’t get too intimidated by the size of the classes.

We explained the benefits of starting at community college to Kobe and he was really interested in it. He was excited to meet new people. We could tell by the way he was wagging his tail.

Then, we knew that he would have to pick his classes. We gave him some helpful tips on how to do just that. We made sure that he didn’t have any 2 hour gaps in between his classes. You don’t want to be a dog walking around campus all day long with no bowl of water.

“I’m sure glad I have you guys to help me with this,” Kobe said.

“It’s our pleasure, Kobe. We want to help you graduate.” We replied to our cool dog friend.

“Are you going to be helping other people too?” he asked back.

“Well of course we will. You will be our success story. After you graduate, everyone else will know that anybody really can graduate college. I mean if a dog can graduate, anyone can! No offense.” I said to Kobe.

“Oh, none taken. I know how amazing this is. After all, I AM a Dog!” Kobe says. “I’d be happy to help you guys out in any way I can.”

“Well then, let’s get to it!” I said excitedly.

Jaycob and I started mapping out the process of college for this incredible dog named Kobe. He was getting so excited about this new adventure he was going on. We were working hard to make the entire process as simple as we could, to ensure Kobe’s success.

We were showing him how to meet people and make new friends on the first day. We were also telling him our secrets to finding your classes easily on the first day. We even told him about where to sit in class to ensure the best learning position.

We knew these were just some of the worries many first time students have when they start college, because we faced them ourselves when we started in college.

Time goes by as we continue to prepare Kobe for college…

So now, Kobe has started college and it takes a little time of getting used to the scene; for him and for everyone else on campus seeing this incredible dog. I mean this was a dog going to college! If you know Family Guy, then picture it like Brian. However, if you know Brian’s story about college, you know that he never graduated. Well unlike him, we won’t fall one class short of graduation. Kobe knew he was going all the way!

Now, the montage of collegial events occurs here…

You hear the classic movie montage music playing as you see a shot of Kobe in class taking notes, with an understanding nod as he learns something new.

Then, you see Kobe hanging out in the quad with a group of his friends, laughing and telling jokes, with a beautiful young girl rubbing his back.

Kobe was such a star student that he was even tutoring the other students in class. Kobe was really starting to shine and we were so happy for him.

The years passed and Kobe became the talk of the town…

The excitement was building up as the last semester began and Kobe continued with his college knowledge to pass all of his classes and have the best time ever!

Kobe was loving life and was almost sad to see it end. However, he knew his goal was to graduate college and that’s what he was going to do.

Then, the sad day finally came…

His last final exam was over and all of his credits were now complete. He walked out of class with a tear falling down his face. If you can possibly imagine a yin yang tear, that’s exactly what this was. One half of the tear was sadness that he was leaving this wonderful place that he had spent so much of his time at for the past few years, but the other half of the tear was of pure joy, knowing that he is actually going to graduate from college.

As Kobe begins to walk out of the hall, he begins to speak…

“I really did it.” Kobe said. “I really graduated from college!”

Kobe ran home to tell us all about it. He was so happy when we saw him. We had to give him a treat for all of his good work.

We gave him a doggy snack and then decided to take him out to the dog park to celebrate. While there, Kobe was frolicking through the grass and catching a Frisbee. And he never catches Frisbee’s, so we knew he was super excited today!

While at the park, we begin to notice that Kobe can’t stop telling the other dogs around him about his adventure in college. He talks about all of the cool people he met, all of the incredible things he learned, and these dogs just can’t believe it. They are totally envious!

Now they want to go to college too!

The owners of these dogs ask us about Kobe’s story and we fill them in about it. They are so totally blown away by it. They ask us more and more about it. We tell them what we have done and how Kobe managed to graduate from college.

We were amazed at how well of a response we were getting from this story.

This all began just talking about if we were a dog, we’d like to graduate from college…and now it has become this huge national dog park story.

Little did we know what would happen when we got home…

While going back home, Kobe was more excited than ever. He was running back and forth in the back seat from window to window, looking out both windows and shouting to everyone he knew, “I’m graduating from college! I’m graduating from college!”

We had never seen Kobe like this before. We couldn’t help but get excited too. His energy was just so contagious.

Kobe was so proud of himself for accomplishing this incredible goal, that he wanted to tell everyone about it to inspire and excite them.

Here’s Kobe’s plan…

Kobe wants to tell everyone about his story, tell them how it happened, and have people spread the word and tell even more people, so that maybe Kobe can inspire them to achieve their goals in life.

While talking about this, we realized this was a great idea. But, we thought, people would never believe that a dog really graduated from college, we thought.

Now because Kobe was so excited and in the zone, the solution came to him instantly.

“We can show them my graduation picture!” He screamed. “You can put up my picture with my story and that way people will have to believe it! It will be right in front of their face!!”

Now we couldn’t possibly deny Kobe his dream, so we agreed to do it.

We talked with Kobe and he gave us some great inside information about his success.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I couldn’t have done it without Jared and Jaycob. They really helped me every step of the way. They created such an easy step by step process, which allowed me to feel comfortable and confident when starting college.

“If you want to graduate from college, like me, then I 100% suggest that you listen to Jared James and Jaycob Rodden. They know what they’re talking about and they can help you succeed in college. If they can help me, they can help you too!

“As far as passing my classes, I knew that I had my work cut out for me. It was hard enough to study for my tests, let alone take notes in class, but of course, Jaycob and Jared were there to help me with that too. From their experience in college, they knew how to study properly and take notes so that I really remembered the material. It was amazing!

“I’d like to tell everyone out there right now, this message…

If you have a dream, go for it! Whatever it is that you believe is your calling, start now. You don’t have to know everything, just begin immediately. I didn’t know how I was going to meet new friends, pass all my classes, and actually graduate from college, but I did it just by starting right away and taking step after step as it presented itself. And again, Jared and Jaycob helped me every step of the way. If you have a support team to help you along the way, then you are very lucky, like I know that I am.

“I also know that I worked very hard to graduate with a 3.8 GPA and again, I couldn’t have done it without the stuff that Jared and Jaycob told me. I owe them everything. In fact, I’m dedicating my college degree to them. They are the reason that I accomplished this amazing goal.

“So tell everyone you know about my story. Get the word out about the graduating dog! I know it’s crazy, but I lived it. I can barely believe it myself sometimes, but it’s true! Haha…

“So tell your friends about this, pass the word on, share this information, post a bulletin, send an email to all of your friends and family, and share my story with the world! If nothing else, I want you to be inspired to do something worthy. If you’re looking to go to college and graduate, then do me a favor and listen to what Jared James and Jaycob Rodden have put together for you.

“They have helped me every step of the way and they will do the same thing for you.”

When we wrapped up that interview, we felt inspired and honored just hearing about it. Now we’re doing our part to get this message out to you. Now is your time to do your part to spread the word about this amazing dog.

Digg this article, post a bulletin with a link to this post, send an email to your friends and family telling them about this graduating dog, and tell everyone you know about this unbelievable story!

It started out with 2 guys, a dog, and a conversation and now it has become this incredible inspirational story. Help us share this story with the world!

Your time is now to help Kobe become the most famous dog since Lassie.

Let’s put Kobe on the Yahoo homepage as the biggest news story of the day. We can do it together!

Simply tell everyone you know online about this amazing story and let’s work together to make Kobe the inspirational story of the year!

I thank you for your support, your time, and your energy. Kobe says thank you too.

Sincerely,

Jared James

P.S. Tell everyone you know about this amazing story and you’ll be able to be apart of this historic event. Go and tell people now!

How to Properly Prepare for Your First Day of College

July 30th, 2008
I was not a confident college student when I was 18.
When I first started college, I was quiet, shy, and I didn’t even ask anybody for directions on how to find my class because I didn’t want to look stupid.

It wasn’t until I went through a personal transformation about a year or so later that my confidence shifted as well as my entire life, including my grades and my overall experience in college.

Since that shift, I started getting better grades in my classes, I started learning new ways to study that actually helped me remember the topics and these techniques made studying actually fun, believe it or not.

I also started meeting new people and making more friends in college. College actually started becoming a fun experience, rather than just something I needed to do to get a degree. Back then I would think, “Even when I get my degree, I don’t know what I’m going to do with it.”

So it is important to make a purpose for yourself and set an intention before you start college.

Here’s a good example:

Since now is the perfect time to prepare for your next semester, take a piece of paper and write down what you intend to learn or become over the next four or five months.

Write out, “During this next semester in college, I will…” and then write out what you want to learn, become, or do.

It can be anything from learn a new language, learn a new subject that you have always wanted to learn about, play a musical instrument, make more friends, find a good relationship, or anything else that you truly desire for yourself.

Make this a goal for yourself and after you write it out, either print it or just post the piece of paper up on the wall to remind yourself what you are going to accomplish this next semester.

Give yourself an end date too. Say, “By December 21, 2008, I will…” and then write out your goal.

Here’s mine. “By December 21, 2008, I will be moved out of my house and living with my two friends in Sacramento. I will have residual income flowing to me, so that I will be able to work for myself full time and I will love getting up in the morning to take action and fulfill my destiny.”

If you notice, there isn’t anything about college in there. That is because I have already received my AA degree. However, once I move out and get settled, I might be going to Sacramento State to get my Bachelor’s Degree. When that becomes part of the picture I will be putting that into my next goal statement.

So stop here for a second and take a few minutes to write out your semester goal statement for yourself. Just take a piece of paper and write down the statement, “By December 21, 2008, I will be…” and then write out your goals for yourself. Do that now. Then, when you’ve done that, continue reading….

So now that you have your semester statement for yourself, you’re now ready to hear about my secrets of college success.

First of all, if this is your first semester in college, then I want to tell you that you can relax because it’s pretty laid back on campus. There aren’t people there to bully you or push you around. This isn’t like high school. Most people are pretty cool and laid back.

You can even do what I never did on my first day and ask somebody for directions if you need to. However, I’m going to give you a nice little tip here, which may allow you to not need to ask anyone for directions; unless they’re really cute and you want to start a conversation with them. : )

A few days before your semester begins, go to the campus and take a walk around. Get familiar with the buildings and if you have your class schedule, bring that and take a trial run through your actual class schedule. This will help tremendously if you haven’t been to the campus before.

I remember I didn’t do this on my first day and I had the hardest time trying to find my classes.

Save yourself the stress and take a personal tour of the campus a few days before the semester starts. You will feel a lot better when you walk onto the campus on the first day.

Another problem that many students face is not knowing anybody in their class on the first day. This is a problem that caused me a lot of stress back when I first started college. I didn’t want to speak to anyone else, just in case I said something stupid. God forbid I would say something stupid!

But to avoid this problem, I’d like to give you some simple confidence tips that will help you feel better with going to college for the first time.

Make it a habit to walk with your back straight. This is important in order to give yourself some confidence. Not only does this show other people that you are confident, but once you get used to doing it, you find yourself becoming more confident. It has been proven time and time again that your body language can actually change your state of being. So walk tall and be proud that you are in college!

Also, offer a smile to the people around you while you are walking on campus.

How do you feel when somebody smiles at you?

Good, right?

Well how would you like to be the person that makes somebody else feel that way?

You can literally change somebody’s day with just a simple smile.

I remember driving one day and somebody on the side of the street waved to me. I waved back and then I couldn’t help but smile after that. By them just making the time and consideration to wave, it changed my whole perspective and even changed my life, since I am still talking about them here and now.

So here’s the rundown of how to prepare for your first day at college.

First, set a Semester Goal or Intention for yourself. Set some personal goals that will help you grow as a person and have a great time while in college.

Second, take a personal tour of the campus to help familiarize yourself with the campus. This can be a priceless tip to the shy or quiet person that is starting college in the fall.

Third, walk confidently. Make a habit of walking up right and also looking up. You don’t want to be the person who walks up straight and has their head down the whole time. That’d be weird to see. So keep your back straight, walk straight, and then of course…

Fourth, give people smiles. It will make you feel better and it will make them feel better too. You may even be able to make a new friend this way…or possibly even find your next relationship. ; )

So these are some simple tips that you would be smart to use to your advantage. College is the perfect time to expand yourself as a person and grow in new ways. This means doing new things that you haven’t done before.

If you want to do more in Life, you will have to do more in Life. It’s just that simple. So step outside of your comfort zone and see what these new experiences can teach you.

Sincerely,

Jared James
